Farwell Frenchies

Yep - tis true! The Frenchies are gone! Now I'm free to have my Freedom Fries and Freedom Toast all alone, what can a lonely Am-Euro Trashian do? You know, since they've left I've noticed how alone I feel here. Sure I have a scattering of friends here and I'm a very outgoing person, but in A'dam I had a plethora to choose from; could just give a quick holler and in just a short bike ride we'd be muchin' bagels n sippin' tea on a canal.

Now, I have meet a lot of people here, but more than most hold true to the "LA Flake Stereotype:" never call or email you back. That's just like life, eh? I guess there's flakes everywhere - I met a few in my many years in A'dam.

Today I was on the crapper (a crude term I know, but offering an effective visual), feeling alone again (I guess this is one of the things in life one must do alone), in a yoga center and on the wall was the following inspirational saying from the current Dalai Lama:

-----------------------------
The Paradox Of Our Age

We have bigger houses but smaller families; more conveniences, but less time.

We have more degrees but less sense; more knowledge but less judgment; more experts, but more problems; more medicines but less healthiness.

We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble in crossing the street to meet our new neighbour.

We built more computers to hold more copies than ever, but have less real communication; we have become long on quantity, but short on quality.

These are times of fast foods but slow digestion;

Tall mean but short characters; steep profits but shallow relationships.

It’s a time when there is much in the window but nothing in the room.
-----------------------------

As I was emptying myself I began pondering about how full my life is, especially these past 10 days - I just had two Frenchies come all the way across the ocean from Amsterdam to come see me and let me show them LA - now that's a bit more than just crossing the street.
