A Riddle for the New Year = "_-_ _ _ _ _-_-_ _ _.com"

Let's play a little riddle, shall we?

  1. There's four of something coloured pure that's quite handy; take the yellow one's away, take the hot-head's away, take the fishy one's away. It is a (_ _ _)?
  2. Three are in the bird's eye-line, comfy at home, all side-by-side - take two away. You're left with? (_)
  3. All at tea - take goods' and evils' pallets away. You're left with two of what? (_ _ _ _ _)
  4. One buzzing bee + Another = (_)
  • count from 4. down
  • enter each answer (_) respectively in the quoted title above
  • subtract all the minus signs
  • and click the link

I warn you though - you must not be faint of heart, faint of mind, faint of spirit or faint of stomach! You should watch with friends of age or alone of age; for only ones trusted by you should gaze upon this. I was fortuned enough to see this on Christmas Day - before dinner, which I recommend! This is one of the most watched things in America at the moment; it is probably one of the most shocking things you will ever ... EVER ... see in your life! It was for me even though I've lived in Amsterdam for the last 8 years and there's some really shocking things there. Not sure about how it is making the rounds in Europe, but if it's not already there it will be soon.

As a side note or something to do before you click the riddle link take the answer and "youtube" it. Watch other people's reactions - tape you're own! And don't say I didn't warn you!!!!!!!

Musician(s) of the Week: Travis

One group that I've always liked for years is Travis - Luve those Scots!!! Yesterday I got their new album: "The Boy with No Name," and I must say it's astounding.

I first got wind of them when Why Does It Always Rain On Me, Side and Sing came out on Dutch MTV, which played all of them over and over and over again. Their new single: Closer has a cute video to go with. I'm not sure if they ever became a big hit here in the US; music taste between countries (even Germany and The Netherlands) is so vast: Kylie Minogue (the Madonna of Europe), Robbie Williams (the European king of pop) and the Scissor Sisters (huge in UK and some other EU countries) are all huge in Europe, but not really big in the US. David Hasselhoff (as a singer) - HUGE in Germany! Not in the rest of Europe, the US or any other civilized country (maybe one of the islands off of Malta).

Back to Travis ...
They have a MySpace page, which if you don't have one by now you are definitely a loser and so 2005! If you don't have a FaceBook page then you're a major loser and so 2007 (I'll forgive those of you born before 1950). Here are a few uther links bout them to keep you entertained: Google Music, Wikipedia

I even went far enough to download his latest album Lovers n Leaders, and I've been impressed with every song thus far (my favorite is Brandon).

Give the pix a click - one'll lead ya to his myspace page the other to his "cooly" designed website.

Hollyweird Greetings

The Foreigner a Comic Book

So ... I was playing with myself ... on the MAC! and created this little doo-hicky!!

It's a little tradition of mine - during each show I'm in - I snap a few candid shots here and there (that's why there's so few of me), add little dorky sayings, laminate, write a personal note on the back and give them to the cast. Now I can share them with y'all (especially the ones that didn't come see the show)!

My next step is to add sound ...

Enjoy

If that doesn't work or you want to have the photo pages yourselves click the image :O)

Poetry - Reach

Reach

Reach for the cookie jar full of love
it’s right up there on the top shelf
with the hate jar, careful, both look alike,
reach with gentle thoughts
not with blindness nor spite,
reach with love
and stuff yourself full of happiness

Poetry - Lines

Lines

We spit our souls over lines
we ourselves would not dare to cross

puddles of us fall to both sides

we coagulate ourselves
find we now stand on those lines
unable to live on grey
we jump to one side
to find comfort in black or white

One little bite won't hurt? It's not like God Hates the World, right?

Came across this on YouTube after a Canadian friend's heads-up ...

The first time I saw it I was disgusted, shocked, impressed and dismayed - hence my forwarding this on. I think everyone is entitled to their own opinions and they can express them as long as they don't physically harm someone in doing it.

The singing is pretty alright and they did a clever tint to the song - though I will not run out and buy it to support their cause.

At first glance I didn't get the thing at the very end ... had to watch it a 2nd time to understand what the flag thing was (keep your eyes open for it) - bit disturbing.

One thing I'm very grateful that I learned, in my many travels round the world living and thriving in other cultures, is that each one has its evil and its good; you have to respect (respect in the way of being aware) both in order to survive. Both have fine lines, which any of us can cross at any given time (given the right/wrong circumstances). Ignoring is not an option, at least for me, I would rather bite the apple ... how about you?

Last Chance to see me in the Foreigner

I know some ... ok ... most of you are not in La La Land, but for those of you that are ...

Below are the remaining dates for the show (only 4 more left):

Sunday        09 DEC 07    19:00 (7:00PM)

Friday        14 DEC 07    20:00 (8:00PM)
Saturday    15 DEC 07    15:00 (3:00PM)
Sunday        16 DEC 07    19:00 (7:00PM)

I have tickets - normally they are $15 at the door, but I can sale them to you a wee bit cheaper if you bring friends :O) The more friends you bring the cheaper it is ...

It's the last chance you have to come witness a wonderful show, amazing cast and see me play a goofy foreigner (type-casting at it's best); then you'll just have to offer me that high paying film role and/or that great part in a TV show.

Blasny Blasny, (come to the show to find out what it means)

Makes Me Wonder, Did I Really Want You?

Sitting in a cafe ...

Watching passerbys, pass by
Lovers gazing into each other's eyes

makes me wonder, did I really want you?

They hold hands - They kiss
turning a blind eye as i stare
thinking about you and I

makes me wonder
I really want you, did you really want me?

They will break each other's hearts, like we did
They will lay blame, like we did
Circumstance aside, does it really matter why?

makes me wonder
I still really want you, to really want me

Charlie [under my] Skin

Last night ...

I've [finally] got you under my skin [Charlie]
I've got you deep in the heart of me
So deep in my heart, that you're really a part of me

I've tried so hard not to give in
I've said to myself this affair will never go so well [it hadn't till then]
But why should I try to resist, [it's just takes me more time]
[till] I've got you [or anyone] under my skin

I'd sacrifice anything [work, play, friends, love] come what might
For the sake of having you [or any character] near
In spite of a warning voice that comes in the night
And repeats, repeats in my ear

Don't you know little fool, you never can win
[another night, another day - Charlie will not stay]
Use your [actor's] mentality, wake up to [non-]reality
But each time I do, just the thought of you
Makes me stop before I begin
'Cause I've [finally] got you under my skin

Took it's sweet time, I thought you'd never find
the way in, deep [under my skin].
Three shows, three, before you showed
before it felt comfortable, with you deep in my soul.

It just clicked, you getting in.
Halfway through, you crawled in
mid-line, I felt you
I relaxed, let you [under my skin].

From then on, I was sailing through the show
line after line, flowing out
finally I didn't have to doubt
[just the thought of you].

You are foreign no more
[this affair will never go so well].
Just visit again, the next show
[spite] your own [warning voice]
crawl back in, Charlie,
crawl back in [under my skin].

The Fraught Foreigner

Twas I today, an actual distraught, overwrought, fraught foreigner (me) playing an actual farouche, sheepish, self-conscious foreigner (Charlie)!

Today twas I a tongue-tied, dumb-founded, inarticulate actor (who can't even can't correctly) attempting to salvage an insufferable performance.

Now, I'm perched on my office pew disgorging ... Is it helping? The sharing? Too soon to divulge.

Ironic, I displace myself an ocean away from a former life whence I was a terminal techie (for a telecom giant) to embrace an unascertainable (or is that unattainable) fate in search of prominence and happenstance. There I was a foreigner: an American, born in the US, raised a gypsy throughout Europe. Garnering an American Southern accent while I was home schooled in Turkey; a British accent following during my two years of schooling north of London; a standard American accent ensuring throughout High School and College; and most recently a hodgepodge accent of affected Dutch, German, British and American. Funny now that on stage I find it arduous attempting a consistent RP British accent.

Even more incredulous is my line-senility - more so to me, but my fellow actors are not far behind. Is it actually age? Inability? Line-exia? One thing it is not is excusable.

No matter where I lay my hat: with the cast, this oceanside, that oceanside I still feel much like the man above - alone, benched an eternal fraught foreigner ... who's mastered a thesaurus!
