Poetry: We Are Too Old
I must say this is one of my favorite poems I have written; I wrote it after reading a book called Pink Triangle...
we are too old
the pink triangle that once defined us,
now is blackened with decay and neglect
we are too old, too fearful to clean it,
lest we wash away our memories
the youth of today will never understand our pain
they must forge their own Holocaust
they must create their own Hitler
we are too old, too tired to teach them,
but we find an eerie comfort in this pretty red ribbon they pin on themselves
